Demo vehicle reporting and DiLink activation
Use this workflow to report demonstrator vehicles to BYD and complete DiLink delivery reporting and activation from the dashboard. One submission runs all three steps in the background so you do not need separate tools for reporting and DiLink.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Dealer Studio must turn the feature on for your dealership. When it is enabled you will see new actions on in-stock Denza vehicles in Stock search and on the vehicle page.
You also need:
- Permission to update stock (the same access that lets you edit vehicles).
- A dealer email configured under Contract settings (see Configure the dealer email). BYD uses this address for demo reporting and DiLink activation notifications.
- Rego and registration date (as shown on the registration papers) for the vehicle you are reporting.
Where to find the actions
Section titled “Where to find the actions”Open Stock (stock search) or a vehicle’s detail page. For eligible Denza stock that is in stock:
| Vehicle type | Button label | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| New | Convert as Demo | Marks the vehicle as a demonstrator in Dealer Studio, then queues BYD reporting and DiLink steps. |
| Demo | Report & Activate | Keeps the vehicle as demo and queues BYD reporting and DiLink steps (use when the car is already a demonstrator). |
After you submit once, the button is hidden on that row so the same vehicle is not submitted twice while processing. Progress appears as status tags on the stock row (and on the vehicle page).
Run the flow
Section titled “Run the flow”- Click Convert as Demo (new stock) or Report & Activate (demo stock).
- In the panel, check the contact email BYD will use. If it is wrong, open Contract settings from the link in the panel (or via Settings — see below) and update Dealer email, then return to stock.
- Confirm or enter:
- Rego (registration plate) — prefilled when the vehicle already has a plate on file.
- Registration date — prefilled when known; change it if it must match the papers.
- Submit. Dealer Studio saves rego and registration date on the vehicle, then runs the BYD steps in the background.
You can leave the page; tags on the row update as each step completes.
What runs in the background
Section titled “What runs in the background”After a successful submit, Dealer Studio runs these steps in order:
- BYD demo car report — reports the demonstrator to BYD.
- DiLink delivery report — stock delivery reporting for DiLink.
- DiLink activation — activates the vehicle in DiLink.
Status tags
Section titled “Status tags”While the job runs, tags on the stock row show progress, for example:
- Demo report / Demo reported (BYD demo car report)
- DiLink report / DiLink reported (delivery)
- DiLink activation / DiLink activated (activation)
Click a tag (when details are available) to open history for that step. If a step fails, contact Dealer Studio support with the vehicle stock number; support can use the attempt history in the dashboard.
Configure the dealer email
Section titled “Configure the dealer email”BYD needs a single dealer email for your dealership (often shared across locations for notifications and activation).
- Go to Settings and open Contract settings (or search for “contract settings” in Settings).
- Under contract options, find Enable Demo Car Activation (BYD CRM) and turn it on if you use this workflow.
- Set Dealer email — used for BYD demo car activation when demo activation is enabled.
- Save the form.
The reporting panel on stock also shows the email currently on file and links to Contract settings so you can verify it before submitting.
When the buttons do not appear
Section titled “When the buttons do not appear”The actions are hidden if any of the following apply:
- Demo car activation is disabled for your dealership.
- The vehicle is not Denza stock.
- The vehicle is not in stock (for example sold or not available).
- A report or activation has already been started for that vehicle (tags are shown instead of the button).
- Your user account cannot update stock.
Support
Section titled “Support”For help enabling the feature, fixing a failed step, or correcting rego or email after submission, contact your Dealer Studio administrator or support@dealerstudio.com.au.
